According to Rick DelVecchio, the author of the SF Chronicle - Duck Kee article, the The DUCK KEE- sign appeared on an Oakland flea market.
Stu Cook's comment:

"The writer of the SF Chronicle story tells me it was seen at an Oakland flea market. I offered five bucks. :)"

DUCK KEE MARKET THEFT

Greetings,
Thieves here in Oakland, California, have ripped off the Duck Kee Market sign pictured on the "Willy and the Poor Boys" cover. The owner of the building, Kathryn Porter, is pretty upset. She's appealing to Creedence fans to keep on eye out for the sign.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported the theft in its Saturday editions. The article should be on the Web at sfgate.com. I wrote the article. I'd love to write that the sign has been recovered.

I'm sending emails to a few of the names that turn up a lot on Creedence sites on the Web. I'd like to talk to some serious fans, if there are any out there who'd like to give me a call.

My phone number is 510-433-5985;
fax 510-834-5556.

DUCK KEE MARKET

"To the untrained eye, the rust-tinged metal sign was just another storefront marker on just another shuttered Oakland market.

But to those in the know, the placard above Oakland's Duck Kee Market was an icon, made famous on the cover of a 1969 album by East Bay band Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Now that minor shrine to rock 'n' roll history has been defiled. Sometime this week, the sign was stolen."

PREMONITION WORDS!

Premonition

I got a feelin'
Way down inside
I can't shake it
No matter how I try

You can't touch it
You just know
The earth is gonna shake
And the wind is gonna blow

Well that's aaaaaaaaaaaaall right
This premonition is killin' me
But that's aaaaaaaaaaaaall right
I must be crazy
I must be seein' things

Out on the highway
Pickin' up clues
So much is "mis-seen"
So much to lose
You must be different
"Than rearranged"
Can't pin it down
But I know it's not the same

Hit me!
I can't eat
I can't sleep
All of a sudden I got witches in my feet
It's like waitin' for
The shoe to drop
I know it's comin' but I don't know where to stop

Thanks to Bruno again!
