According to Rick DelVecchio, the author of the SF Chronicle - Duck Kee article,
the The DUCK KEE- sign appeared on an Oakland flea market. "The writer of the SF Chronicle story tells me it was seen at an Oakland flea market. I offered five bucks. :)" SC 09/ 15/ 1998: DUCK KEE MARKET THEFT
Greetings, The San Francisco Chronicle reported the theft in its Saturday editions. The article should be on the Web at sfgate.com. I wrote the article. I'd love to write that the sign has been recovered. I'm sending emails to a few of the names that turn up a lot on Creedence sites on the Web. I'd like to talk to some serious fans, if there are any out there who'd like to give me a call. My phone number is 510-433-5985; Forwarded by Petri Silmala, Finland. 09/ 13/ 1998: DUCK KEE MARKET "To the untrained eye, the rust-tinged metal sign was just another storefront marker on just another shuttered Oakland market. But to those in the know, the placard above Oakland's Duck Kee Market was an icon, made famous on the cover of a 1969 album by East Bay band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Now that minor shrine to rock 'n' roll history has been defiled. Sometime this week, the sign was stolen."
Read the whole story at the "San Francisco Chronicle" ! 09/ 06/ 1998: TOM FOGERTY CD'S
